Cantaloupe

Rich, sandy soil and good seed are absolutely necessary for success in producing the best cantaloupes. Cantaloupes are cold tender and should not be planted until the ground has become warm and dry. Plant 8 to 10 seeds per hill and thin to 3 or 4 of the strongest plants. Cultivate frequently and shallow during early growth, but do not disturb the maturing vines.
