Bermuda Triangle Blend
bermuda_triangle.jpg
Featuring- Certified MOHAWK, SULTAN, and SYDNEY Turf-type Bermudagrasses
The Bermuda Triangle is not a mystery anymore! Three of our better-seeded varieties have been
blended together to provide an excellent turf with wide adaptation. These top performing
varieties have improved turf density, color and moderate cold tolerance. For turf that stands up
to the demands of today’s turf professionals and the best of the best, seed Bermuda Triangle
Blend.
Characteristics:
• Certified Quality
• Dark Green Color
• Medium Fine Texture
• Improved Cold Tolerance
• Excellent Drought Tolerance
• Increased Turf Density for Wear and Durability
• Wide Range of Adaptation due to Genetic Diversity
Recommended Uses:
Golf Courses (Fairways, Tees and Roughs), Athletic Turf Fields, Parks, Schools, Home Lawns,
and Commercial Landscapes
Climatic Zones: 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 (may not be adaptable to all areas within each climatic zone)
Establishment & Maintenance:
Bermuda Triangle Blend should be planted when soil temperatures are consistently above 65°
F (18º C) in full sun on well-drained soil. Care must be taken not to cover the seed with too
much soil – no more than ¼” (1.91 cm) covering the seed is recommended. Soil moisture around
the seed must be maintained for about 1 to 2 weeks. Under ideal conditions, germination may
begin within 10 to 14 days; allow 14 to 18 days for completion. Full coverage may be attained in
4 to 6 weeks, when planting early or late in the season, more time may be needed for
establishment. Mowing may begin when grass is 1/3 taller than desired mowing height. It is
recommended that no more than 1/3 of leaf blade be removed per mowing. Dormant
bermudagrass may be overseeded for year round color, but is not generally recommended on turf
less than 6 to 8 months old. Immature turf may be damaged by the vertical cutting and scalping
process leaving it unable to compete with the overseeded species during the spring transition.
Seeding Rates:
• New Turf Applications 2 - 3 lbs/1000 sq ft
(1 - 2 kg/100 sq meters)

    Princess 77 Hybrid Bermudagrass
    Princess77_certified_clv.jpg
Plant Breeder: Dr. Arden Baltensperger - Seeds West, Inc.

    Experimental Designation - FMC 77.

Princess 77 bermudagrass is the first dense, fine textured hybrid bermudagrass variety to be available in seeded form. Princess 77 seed is produced much like hybrid seed corn, but instead of two inbred parent lines, two selfincompatible but cross-fertile parent clones are planted in alternating rows. The specific combining ability of these two elite parent clones is what makes Princess 77, an F1 hybrid, the first seeded bermudagrass that is competitive with the vegetative hybrid bermudagrasses for turfgrass quality, leaf texture, color, and density.

    Characteristics:
     Outstanding drought tolerance
Requires 21% less water than Tifway
     Dark green color
     Better divot recovery than Tifway
     Medium fine leaf texture
     High leaf density
     Excellent fall color retention
Higher overall turf quality than all commercial seeded varieties in U.S. and International tests

Recommended Use: Golf Courses (fairways and tees), Athletic Fields, Parks, and Home Lawns Climatic Zones: 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 (may not be adaptable to all areas within each climatic zone.

Establishment & Maintenance: Princess 77 should be planted when soil temperatures are consistently above 65 F (18 C). For best results, take a soil sample and follow fertility recommendations prior to planting. Care must be taken not to cover the seed with too much soil; no more than 1/4 inch (6 mm) covering over the seed is advised. After seeding, soil moisture in the root zone must be maintained for about 1 to 2 weeks, germination may begin within 7 to 10 days. After the new turf is established, less frequent, deep watering is desirable. Recommended mowing height is 3/16 to 1 inch (5 to 25 mm) with no more than 1/3 of the leaf blade removed per mowing. Full coverage may be attained in 4 to 6 weeks with proper management. Fertilize with 1/2 to 1 lb/1,000 sq ft actual N (0.25 to 0.5 kg /100 sq m) per month of growing season for optimum performance, fertilization may be reduced by 1/2 if clippings are returned. This is a dense hybrid verticut at least once per growing season during periods of active growth. Winter overseeding may be completed for year round green color, but is generally not recommended on turf less than 6 months old.

    Seeding Rates:

     New Turf Applications: 1 - 2 lbs/1,000 sq. ft. (0.5 - 1 kg/100 sq. meters).

One pound of unhulled Princess 77 contains 2,200,000 seeds compared to 1,400,000 for unhulled NuMex Sahara. That is 57% more seed or 800,000 more seeds per pound. That is why we recommend a lower seeding rate for Princess 77 compared to other varieties.

    Kentucky 31 Tall Fescue
    kentucky_31.jpg
Plant 5 pounds of seed per 1,000 square feet using a mechanical spreader. Divide the seed into two equal parts and spread half in one direction and the other half at a right angle to the first direction. This procedure is also recommended for fertilizer or pesticide application. After seeding, lightly rake or drag the area to cover the seed to a depth of about 1/4 inch, and then lightly roll the soil to firm the seedbed. Applying a straw mulch is beneficial, especially on slopes; it helps prevent erosion and retains moisture for rapid germination.

    Jesup with MaxQ® Tall Fescue
    maxQ.jpg
The release of non-toxic Jesup MaxQ tall fescue now gives farmers an alternative to consider for their high quality, non-toxic pasture and hay forage needs.

    TYPE: Cool season perennial grass.

ENDOPHYTES: Endophytes (fungus) are important to a tall fescue plant The fungus aids the plant in being more tolerant to heat and drought stress, plus adds tolerance to some insects and diseases. However, most natural fungi in grass plants produce toxins, which are harmful to livestock. MaxQ® endophyte provides all of the beneficial effects for the plant but does not produce the harmful toxins.

ADAPTATION: Grows very well where KY 31 is grown. Best adapted to clay or clay loam soils. Tolerant to soil acidity and poor drainage, but performs best on soils with good water holding capacity and a pH of 6.0-6.5. Relatively tolerant to drought. Not suited to drought prone, sandy soils.

USES: MaxQ® enhanced tall fescue provides excellent permanent pastures for cattle, sheep, horses and other grazing livestock. When cut in early boot stage, it also produces a very high quality hay and provides high quality, abundant forage for a long period of time each year. Highest productivity, September-December & March-June. Best practice is to rest fescue pastures during the summer months.

NUTRITION: With good management practices, tall fescue can produce Crude Protein levels of 15-16%; TDN in the 60-62% range. However, environmental conditions and management practices will determine individual results.

PLANTING: For best results and benefits all toxic tall fescue should be killed before trying to establish a stand of fescue with MaxQ®. A firm seedbed is important for good stand establishment. You can drill into prepared firm seedbed, no-till drill into sod or broadcast and pack in seed. Place seed at a depth of 1/4" to 1/2", but never deeper than 1/2". Rate: 20 lbs./acre in prepared seedbed and 25 lbs./acre sod-seeded in stubble. Date: Southern and Southeastern States; Sept.1 to Nov.1, Mid-South, Midwest and Northeastern States; Aug. 15 to Oct. 1 or spring planting in March and April.

MANAGEMENT: Do not graze or cut seedling stand until it reaches 6" – 8" tall. Use only light rotational grazing in the first year and never graze or cut closer than 2". During periods of heat and drought stress it is best to rotate cattle more frequently. Consult MaxQ® Users Guide for complete planting and management information.
